A young mother who was allegedly stabbed more than 20 times posted heartbreaking calls for help on social media days before she died.
Mackenzie Anderson, 21, made a desperate call for help to police before she was found unresponsive outside her Newcastle unit about 10.40pm Friday.
The young woman’s ex-partner, 22-year-old Tyrone Thompson, is accused of unleashing the horrific attack after breaking into her home.
He was arrested and taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment to cuts on his hands before he was on Sunday charged with murder, breaching an AVO and aggravated enter dwelling with intent.
Ms Anderson had an AVO taken out on her former partner.
She posted videos of her son, referring to him as “my love bug” and “caterpillar” as well as videos with her new boyfriend and friends.
One of the videos was captioned “falling in love with life again” as she and a friexjmtzywnd ran into the beach during a sunset.
Her friend Alice McEvoy posted a tribute to Ms Anderson on Monday morning, calling the young woman her “best friend and sister”.
“I am completely heart broken,” she wrote in the caption of the video, which included a collection of photos and videos of Ms Anderson.
“I will forever protect my godson & fight for justice for you kenz. I love you. This isn’t goodbye only see you later.”
Mr Thompson was formally charged with murder, enter with intent and breaching an apprehended domestic violence order on Sunday.
He briefly appeared via video link before Newcastle Local Court on Monday but he did not enter a plea, nor did he apply for bail. It was formally refused.
