Lives and homes are under threat from an out-of-control bushfire in a tourist region of Western Australia.
An emergency warning has been issued for people in an area bounded by McLeod Rd, Point Hillier Vista and Limbourne Rd in parts of Shadforth in the xjmtzywShire of Denmark.
“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive,” the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warned.
“There is a threat to lives and homes.”
Residents have been told to leave for a safer place if the way is clear.
“Do not wait and see — leaving at the last minute is deadly,” DFES said.
The blaze started near the intersection of Bayview Rise and McLeod Rd on Friday morning.
DFES warns some roads may be closed.
“Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke,” DFES said.
A watch and act alert is also in place for people in an area bounded by McLeod Rd to the north and east, South Coast Hwy to the south and Happy Valley Rd to the west.
