A woman has been lucky to escape unharmed after her car became lodged in a fence four metres in the air on Sydney’s North Shore on Monday.
Emergency services conducted a delicate rescue to free the trapped woman, saying the unstable position of the vehicle made extrication difficult.
The 70-year-old woman, who has mobility issues, was reversing from her driveway on Mosman’s Awaba St when she “careered” through a neighbour’s fence and bushes, NSW Fire and Rescue said.
Three Paramedic crews including Special Operation Paramedics were dispatched to the scene.
“When Paramedics arrived on scene, we encountered a vehicle suspended in mid-air with an occupant still within the vehicle,” NSW Ambulance Inspector David Lambert said.
Fire crews from Mosman and Crows Nest stabilised the vehicle before attempting to remove the trapped woman.
She was assessed by paramedics at the scene and did not require any treatment.
“Due to the difficult access, we worked collaboratively with other emergency services to carefully extricate the patient,” Mr Lambert said.
The driveway was blocked off to the public as emergency services worked to make the vehicle stable enough to work on without risking it dislodging.
A crane is expected to be used to remove the car from the fence.
