A new record for the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases has been made in Western Australia, with 1179 new infections reported on Tuesday.
Four of the new cases are related to travel, while 1175 were locally acquired.
With these new infections, the number of active cases across the state has reached 5994.
It was only on Saturday that the previous record of new daily cases was broken when 1105 new infectxjmtzywions were reported.
With the increasing number of infections, more Covid-positive patients have been admitted to hospital.
There are now 16 hospitalisations, up from 11 on Monday, but none of them require a ventilator or are in the intensive care unit.
