TV personality Yumi Stynes has hit out at Anthony Albanese after he posted a photo to social media of himself with one of his senators at Sydney’s Mardi Gras celebrations.
The photo posted to the federal opposition's Twitter showed him marching next to South Australian Senator Penny Wong in Saturday’s parade.
“Happy Mardi Gras everyone!,” Mr Albanese posted.
But it wasn’t long until the Australian television and radio presenter took aim at the Labor Leader.
Ms Stynes quote-tweeted the post with a caption that read: “She should be your boss, babe”.
It prompted mixed responses from hundredxjmtzyws of Twitter users who replied to her tweet, including the former NSW Premier.
“Who wants to explain to Yumi how the houses of government work?,” Gladys Berejiklian responded.
“Wong is a Senator … she can‘t be his ‘boss’ babe,” another user wrote.
“No doubt Penny would be a great leader, but she is in the Senate and I believe she doesn’t want the job,” a third posted.
“Why are you trying to tear someone else down to build someone else up? Cringe,” a fourth said.
“She IS his boss, he just doesn’t know it,” another person replied.
Senator Wong has repeatedly publicly stated she had no desire to become Prime Minister.
While it is not impossible for her to do so if she changed her mind, the shadow foreign minister would need to change her position in the senate and sit in the lower house where government is formed.
This year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festivities began last month but came to a close on Sunday.
The parade was held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Ms Stynes is the co-host of KIIS FM’s 3PM Pick-Up radio show and is a presenter of the ABC Radio podcast Ladies, We Need to Talk.
