Truck filled with rapid antigen tests crashes on Sydney’s M7

Thousands of rapid antigen tests had to be salvaged from the side of a busy highway after a truck carrying the massive load crashed.

The truck toppled over at about 2pm on Monday as it manoeuvred the Wallgrove Rd southbound off-ramp on the M7 Motorway at Horsley Park in Sydney’s west.

Fire and Rescue NSW were called to assist with the suspected diesel spill.

The spill was quickly managed by firefighters before it was found the truck had been carrying thousands of RATs.

As the truck was hoisted upright, the boxes of cargo spilt out the back of the truck.

Footage shows the boxes falling out of the tray, with some coming loose and RATs spilling into the bush.

In the video, crews pick up lost RATs from the floor, while hundreds of boxes are strewn on the side of the highway.

Crews remained on the scene to assist the NSW Rural Fire Service “with the recovery of the precious cargo”, a FRNSW spokesman said.

“The truck was hauled upright and the load was salvaged and reboxed ready for inspection in a 90-minute multi-agency operation,” the spokesman said.

FRNSW Acting Superintendent Mathew Sigmund said calling triple-0 was critical when incidents like this occurred.
