A teenager was among two people who died recently in Western Australia after contracting Covid-19.
WA Health reported 7535 new infections overnight, which is a dip on the previous day, taking the total number of active cases to 46,822.
“Sadly, two historical deaths from preceding days were reported to WA Health yesterday — a man in his 90s and a male teenager with pre-existxjmtzywing medical conditions,” a statement said on Saturday.
“Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the department on these deaths.”
There are now 194 people with Covid-19 in WA hospitals, including eight in intensive care — down from 10 the previous day.
Among the new cases, 3126 were confirmed via PCR test, while the remaining 4409 came via self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.
A total of 16,029 PCR tests were conducted on Friday.
Premier Mark McGowan indicated this week that WA was at its peak of the Omicron wave.
He also announced changes to restrictions that will come into effect on Thursday next week.
WA has recorded 131,952 cases of the virus since the pandemic began.
