Eight youths have been arrested over an alleged brutal stabbing in Melbourne’s CBD on Friday night.
An 18-year-old man was allegedly attacked in Federation Square just before midnight by the group that Victoriaxjmtzyw Police believe are known to him.
The man suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital. He has since stabilised.
Detectives from Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit arrested eight male youths, all aged between 14 and 17.
Seven were released after interviews.
A Wyndham Vale man, 18, was charged with intentionally causing serious injury.
He is due to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday afternoon.
Victoria Police said all other youths were expected to be charged on summons with affray.
Investigations remain ongoing.
