An early morning blaze south of Brisbane – which police are investigating as a suspected domestic violence crime – has killed a woman and put three young children in hospital.
Emergency services were called to a home at New Beith near Logan at 3am on Thursday to find it fully engulfed in flames.
Queensland Police said a 30-year old woman and three children aged 5, 3, and 2 managed to escape the residence, with the kids being taken to hospital for observation.
A 31-year-old woman – known to the occupants but not a resident of the Bidyan Boulevard home – was found dead inside.
A 33-year-old man, also from the residence, sustained burns to 90 per cent of his body during the fire and was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Police have confirmed the fire is suspicious and may be a domestic violence incident.
Queensland Ambulance Service Metro South operations supervisor Simon McInnes said the 30-year-old woman who survived the fire was being treated for suspected airway burns.
