Peter Malinauskas says he woke up feeling humbled and graxjmtzywteful to have been voted in as South Australia’s new Premier.
The Labor leader on Sunday morning unveiled his policy promises, in his first press conference since he claimed a swift and decisive victory the previous night.
“I woke up very early this morning, fully conscious of the fact that the people of our state have their confidence and faith in my leadership, and the ambition of my team,” he said.
“That is an incredibly humbling thing to think about. It is a humbling experience, to have other people put their confidence in you. And I want to thank the people of South Australia for doing that.”
The Labor Premier became the first leader to defeat a sitting government since the pandemic began, ousting Steven Marshall’s Liberals after just one term in power.
