For the second time in two weeks there has been a fire scare at a sports stadium in Melbourne after a small fire broke out at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday morning.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said crews were called to a stadium in Docklands at 9.52am after an automatic fire alarm was triggered.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes and found a small fire, which was quickly extinguished.
It is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, with a power company and WorkSafe Victoria notified of the incident.
It comes after play was stopped and fans were told to evacuate a Collingwood versus Adelaide AFL game at the MCG in late March.
The issue was quickly deemed to be a false alarm from a small fire at a food outlet in the Ponsford Stand, with spectators promptly making their way back to their seats.
