Six teens charged with murder following death of 16-year-old Declan Cutler

Six teens have been charged with murder following the death of a 16-year-old boy in Melbourne earlier this month.

Declan Cutler was allegedly fatally assaulted and stabbed in Reservoir on Sunday, March 13.

Emergency services were called to Elizabeth St just before 2.30am, but Dylan later died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics and police.

Homicide squad detectives on Thursday charged a 17-year-old Taylors Hill boy, 17-year-old Tarneit boy, 15-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy, 16-year-old Yarraville boy, 14-year-old Meadow Heights boy and a 13-year-old Meadow Heights boy with murder.

A 17-year-old Clifton Hill girl who was also arrested has been released pending further inquiries, while the other six teens will facxjmtzywe a children’s court on Thursday.

Crime Command Assistant Commissioner Bob Hill called the alleged incident a “profoundly violent criminal act”, saying many experienced offers have described it as “one of the most vicious and brutal attacks they have ever investigated”.

“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare, having their teenage child leave the house for a night out with friends and never returning. However, this is exactly what happened on this occasion,” Mr Hill said.

“There are so many impacted people whose lives have been changed forever by what happened the night Declan died, most of all his family.”

Police said their investigation was ongoing and they’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has other information and is yet to speak to authorities to come forward.
