SA offers more dining out, accommodation vouchers, adds new vouchers for tours, experiences

The South Australian government is rolling out another multimillion-dollar support package for businesses hit hard by the Covid pandemic, including more vouchers to encourage people to dine out and travel around the state.

Premier Steven Marshall announced the raft of stimulus measures on Saturday including more Great State vouchers to encourage people to use accommodation and tours across the state, and more CBD dining out vouchers.

“The Great State accommodation voucher will be $100 for the CBD, $50 outside of the CBD, and we also have a new voucher for experiences,” he told reporters.

“So that is going to be hugely beneficial and I think it will give us this bounce out of the situation that we have had where many businesses have suffered from a lack of demand over the last four or six weeks.

“In fact many businesses have struggled for an extended period of time, especially in our CBD, and that’s why we want to focus on those.”

Mr Marshall said Adelaide was one of the first CBDs in the country to ease work from home arrangements post-Omicron, with 25 per cent of city workers now heading back in, and he hoped that would increase in coming weeks.

The SA government eased other restrictions from midnight, allowing businesses to have 50 per cent capacity indoors.

QR check-in is no longer be needed for general retail but remains in use at high-risk locations such as aged care and health facilities.

Elective surgery has also recommenced in a staged manner, beginning with paediatrics on Saturday.

Also part of the stimulus package are cash grants of up to $22,000 being automatically paid to previous recipients of the tourism, hospitality and gym grant.

Others that have suffered a 30 per cent reduction in turnover or more between January 10 and 30 due to customer density restrictions can apply for the grant.

Further grants of up to $8000 will be paid to previous recipients of the businessxjmtzyw hardship grant and other businesses that have had a 50 per cent or more reduction in turnover over the same period can apply.
