There has been a new development in a “violent” alleged murder with links to a criminal syndicate, with the suspected remains of “Jacky” Chong Kai Wong found by police.
The remains were found at a rural property in Killongbutta, about 40km northwest of Bathurst in central west NSW, on Sunday about 3.30pm after police had been forensically searching the property since last Tuesday.
While the remains are yet to be formally identified, they are believed to be that of Mr Wong.
They will be subject to forensic examination and further analysis, including DNA testing, while a report will be prepared for the coroner.

It comes after three men, aged 33, 22 and 28, were charged at the end of March in connection with Mr Wong’s death.
Mr Wong had been living in Sydney since 2016 but had not spoken to his family overseas since December 28, 2020.
His family told police they believe he might have been working in regional NSW before his disappearance.
Drug and firearms squad commander Detective Superintendent John Watson said last week the 24-year-old was allegedly part of an organised criminal syndicate before he was “violently murdered”.
“We know Jacky was working for a criminal enterprise involved in the cultivation of cannabis in regional NSW around the time of his alleged murder,” Superintendent Watson said.
“The circumstances of his death are particularly gruesome.
“These criminal groups are known for targeting young individuals with the promise of easy money, which often leads to them working in illegal grow houses on remote properties.”
All three of the charged men remain before the courts.
