A man has been shot in the head inside his vehicle in the regional Queensland city of Toowoomba.
Queensland Ambulance Service were called to an injured man, 24, in the sleepy suburb of Harlaxton at around 2.50am on Tuesday.
Police said the man was rushed from the Coonan Street address to the Toowoomba hospital with head injuries.
He was later transferred from the regional hospital to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he is in a critical condition.
Investigations reveal the man was linked to a car located on north bound lanes around the same time paramedics responded to the incident.
Detectives are investigating a white Ford Ranger dual cab ute that was burnt out less than 40km from the shooting location just before 5am.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or who has dash camera footage to contact police.
