A 61-year old man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly chased down a woman and choked and punched her in the early hours of the morning in Central Queensland.
The man allegedly forced his way into the back door of the Burua home, located inland from Gladstone, at around 4.15am on Monday.
The 57-year-old woman escaped the Brendonna Rd address on foot.
Police say the man jumped in his vehicle and chased after the woman, who was known to him.
Police allege the man caught up with the woman and choked and punched her until she lost consciousness.
The man allegedly fled the area.
The woman was transported to Gladstone Hospital for treatment.
The man has been charged with four domestic violence offences including attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm, choking and enter dwelling with intent to commit a indictable offence.
He will appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 8.
