The South Australian Premier has joked about a “dream coming true” after he was questioned about the AFL Showdown during a press conference.
Peter Malinauskas was initially asked if he predicted Friday night’s clash between the Adelaide Crows and the Port Adelaide Power to be a superspreader event.
But, after telling reporters he was attending, the conversation quickly led to him being quizzed on who would win the match.
“South Australians know my colours — I’m a Port supporter. I’m nervous. This is a must win game for both teams and showdowns are always close,” he said.
“I’ve been to the overall majority of showdowns as I’m a Port season ticket holder and every time I go in thinking I know what the outcome is going to be I often walk away with a different result and I suspect tonight will be of those tough encounters.
“I’m going with mates who are mad Crows supporters so it’s going to be a long night if Port don’t come through.”
Mr Malinauskas smiled as he answered questions about injuries and the line up, joking about being asked about the topic.
“I haven't been across the ins and outs as I normally would because I’m dealing with ins and outs of a different nature today but … I just can't believe I’m being asked by Sky News, talking about sport.
“This is a dream come true.”
