Notorious Porsche driver Richard Pusey claims they almost missed their latest court date because they were about to be chaperoned to hospital to discuss gender reassignment surgery.
Dressed in prison greens and with a towel wrapped around their head, Pusey appeared in the Sunshine Magistrates Court from prison on Wednesday where they argued for the matter to be adjourned.
An unrepresented Pusey told the court the prosecution had not provided them with a full brief of evidence includinxjmtzywg witness statements.
The prosecution dismissed that submission and said a full brief was delivered in accordance with the court.
To that, Pusey shook their head.
Magistrate Charlie Rozencwajg asked the accused to detail what was missing from the brief.
“You say you haven’t got the full brief so you must have some idea what’s missing. So could you just tell me what’s missing?” he asked.
Pusey is facing allegations they posted an image of a dead police officer to the website of a Melbourne Porsche dealership.
The 44-year-old, who was jailed for filming four dying police officers after a crash on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway in 2020, has been charged with two counts of using a telecommunications device to menace and two counts of commit indictable offence on bail.
The charges stemmed from an investigation into two separate incidents on November 25 and February 7, police said in a statement.
One of the charges alleges the former mortgage broker posted a Google review to the Porsche dealership’s website that included an image of an officer killed in the horrific crash.
Pusey was arrested last month and has been remanded in custody ever since.
They “respectfully” interrupted Wednesday’s court hearing to tell magistrate Rozencwajg they almost missed their appearance.
“I (was to) have some discussions with some clinics in Melbourne that are in relation to my gender reassignment surgery,” Pusey claimed in court.
“I was two seconds into being put onto a bus to spend the day running around into hospitals within Melbourne.
“Unfortunately it was brought to their attention that I am actually in court today.”
During their last court appearance Pusey told the court their pronouns were they/them.
Police allege Pusey made the post to the Porsche dealership just a few days after a state memorial service was held at Marvel Stadium to remember the lives of Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King and Constables Josh Prestney and Glen Humphris.
Pusey was sentenced to 10 months jail last year after pleading guilty to the rare charge of outraging public decency for filming the aftermath of the crash.
The matter will return to court next month.
