Two people have survived a fiery plane crash, discovered by a fisherman at Kununurra in Western Australia on Saturday morning.
About 8.40am the man, who xjmtzywwas fishing at Bandicoot Point, called police and reported a plane crash landing between the river and airport.
The plane was on fire, with witnesses reporting thick black smoke billowing from the aircraft.
It’s understood the plane had attempted to launch from the East Kimberley Regional Airport about 8.30am when it overshot the runway.
Emergency services were called to the scene where they discovered a pilot and passenger suffering injuries.
St John Ambulance crews are working to treat the injuries and evacuate the two survivors from the crash scene by helicopter.
Western Australia Police say the pair are expected to be flown to the airport where ambulances will be waiting to provide transport to Kununurra Hospital.
