A paedophile primary school teacher who abused young students on campus and filmed himself having sex with a doll dressed in school uniform has been jailed.
James Treasure, 42, was sentenced in Victoria’s County Court on Monday after pleading guilty to possessing and producing child abuse or porn material and performing an indecent act with a child.
While delivering her sentencing remarks Judge Frances Hogan said Treasure “lived a lonely and introverted existence” and resorted to alcohol abuse.
He also struggled to form meaningful relationships with adults.
Judge Hogan said Treasure was jailed in Queensland after police busted him filming children on a beach in Noosa in 2018.
Detectives raided his accommodation where they found thousands of child abuse images. and videos, including one of him having sex with a childlike sex doll dressed in a school uniform.
He would also digitally impose his face and his students’ faces on porn videos.
Police then raided his home in Melbourne where they seized hard-drives and DVDs containing videos he had filmed of children, including thousands he collected from schools he taught at.
The court was also told he kept children’s clothing and masks depicting current and former students.
Treasure would groom his students by offering them chocolates in exchange for helping him in his classroom at lunchtime.
Judge Hogan told the court he would tickle the students and on several occasions touched their buttocks and vagina outside their clothing.
“The staff and families who place their trust in you are devastated,” she said.

She acknowledged Treasure showed remorse and was almost relieved to be arrested because he could seek treatment for his paedophilic disorder.
Lawyers for Treasure submitted he was “wired differently” and was remorseful for his actions.
Treasure was sentenced to four years and eight months in jail.
He must serve at least 19 months behind bars before being eligible for parole but could be free in just five months having served more than 400 days pre-sentence detention.
The 42-year-old will be placed on a sex offenders register for life.
