A man has died and a second man has been injured following a public shooting in Sydney’s west overnight.
Emergency services rushed to a service station at the intersection of Pitt and Neil Streets at Merrylands about 11.50pm Thursday after reports a man had been shot.
When police arrived they found a 39-xjmtzywyear-old man with a gunshot wound to his buttocks.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers then found the body of a man near the intersection of Fox and Robert Streets at Holroyd a short time later.
The man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be 40.
Police established two crime scenes, which are being examined by specialist forensic police.
Officers also conducted a search of the surrounding area.
