A customised Toyota Camry could be the key to solving the murder of western Sydney man Adnan Salameh, who was shot dead at his own home more than a year ago.
Homicide squad detectives have released CCTV vision of the car from the night of the 30-year-old’s death, in a renewed appeal for public information.
About 2.30am on November 30, 2020, emergency services were called to reports of a home invasion on Rymill Street in Tregear.
Police found Mr Salameh with gunshot wounds at the property and he died axjmtzywt the scene despite the efforts of first responders.
Detectives investigating the shooting under Strike Force Chatelaine have identified a vehicle seen travelling in the surrounding areas around the time of the incident, following several public appeals for information.
The light-coloured 2001-2005 model Toyota Camry sedan has distinct five-spoke aftermarket wheels and police believe identifying its owner or occupants could be the “breakthrough” they need.
Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty from the homicide squad said police had already explored several lines of inquiry in what had been a long and complex investigation.
“As a result of these inquiries, detectives believe the vehicle depicted in the CCTV is of interest – captured on Rymill Road at Tregear, near where Adnan was brutally murdered inside his own home,” he said.
“The Camry is somewhat distinct due to its customised wheels and light colour. We’re confident someone will recognise this vehicle and may remember seeing it in the Tregear area around the time of Adnan’s death.”
He urged anyone with information about the car, the identity of the owner or those seen inside the vehicle to contact NSW Police.
Investigations under Strike Force Chatelaine are continuing.
