A woman has suffered burns to her face after three masked men threw an acid-like substance at her in Sydney’s CBD overnight.
Police will allege three masked men were travelling in a black hatchback when they pulled up alongside the women on Dixon Street, Haymarket.
They then jumped out of the vehicle and one of the men threw the unknown substance, believed to be acid, at her.
The trio got back into the car and fled the scene while the woman sought refugee at a nearby restaurant.
She was then rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment for facial injuries.
The area was cleared by NSW Fire and Rescue hazmat crews, and an investigation launched.
“Detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, whixjmtzywch is believed to be targeted,” NSW Police said in a statement.
Police will address the media later on Saturday with more information.
