A sleazy Sydney paedophile has confessed to relentlessly pursuing a teenage girl he met online after police found pictures of kids as young as five on his iPhones.
Details of Zane Clark’s crimes can be revealed for the first time after he pleaded guilty to procuring a child under 16 xjmtzywfor unlawful sexual activity and possessing and transmitting child abuse material.
The 20-year-old had been flying under the radar of authorities until March 2020, when the aunt of a 13-year-old girl made a report to police.
According to court documents, Clark used the Skype video sharing app to approach the girl, who he said was “heaps cute and hot”.
“Are you ever sexual?” he asked.
“It’s hard not to be turned on around you. If you want a boyfriend I’ll happily date you.”
The conversation began at midnight and after a short break, Clark sent a shirtless picture of himself to the girl about 7.40am.
“I don’t care about age,” he said.
“How long will we date before we start doing naughty stuff? Gotta make a choice bub … I’m a guy, I can’t wait forever.
“Can you give me a time so I can get somewhat excited?”
Two days later, about 1.36am, Clark contacted the girl again in an attempt to cover his tracks and put more pressure on the girl.
“If I get caught … I’ll be sent to jail,” he said.
“I’m trusting you. If you loved me more you would have shown me your body on the Skype call that time.”
After an extensive investigation, Australian Federal Police child protection squad members raided Clark’s Maroubra home in April 2021.
On two iPhones police found 66 pictures and more than 60 videos which featured girls and boys aged as young as five.
Court documents state the videos included footage of children having sex with adults, posing while naked and urinating.
After seizing Clark’s phones, police also discovered he created a Kik messaging app account to transmit child abuse material.
In conversations with an unknown person, Clark asked for pictures of children and sent two pictures of naked girls aged between 8 and 10.
“I need to know what you have is quality,” Clark said.
“How young are the pics you have? Anything around 10 or younger?”
The case returns to the NSW District Court later this month when work to set a sentencing date is likely to start.
Clark remains out on bail.
