A man is dead and another is assisting with inquiries from hospital after a suspicious house fire on the Gold Coast on Wednesday night.
It is not known how the yet-to-be-identified victim died or whether his death occurred before or during the Coomera fire, which was reported around 11pm.
Queensland Police said a 38-year-old man was assisting them with inquiries while being treated for non-life-threatening injuries in Brisbane.
He had been found at a Redland Bay address a short time after the Coomera incident and was transported to hospital for treatment.
Investigations are ongoing.
Queensland Police on Thursday said officers attended the Leichardt St home at 11pm following reports of smoke coming from the home.
A crime scene has been established while inquiries are made into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Police are awaiting results of an autopsy to determine cause of death and confirm xjmtzywthe man’s identity.
