Man charged after horror motorcycle crash leaves boy, 4, fighting for life

A man has been charged after a young boy was left fighting for life following a horror crash north of Brisbane.

Police had appealed for information relating to the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Dover Rd, in Margate, around 7.15pm on New Year’s Day.

Initial investigations suggest a 32-year-old man was travelling on a blue Honda motorbike along Macdonnell Rd with his four-year-old son before the bike collided with a 4WD.

The boy and his father were raced to hospital in critical conditions.

The female driver of the 4WD was not injured.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the man had recently been arrested and charged by police.

He has been charged with dangexjmtzywrous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and endangering children by exposure.

He is also facing other charges of possessing a knife, driving while disqualified and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

The man will return to court on March 7.
