Police are searching for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman as she slept at her home in Melbourne’s inner north.
The man allegedly broke into the women’s Fitzroy North home in the early hours of Saturday morning before assaulting her while she slept.
Victoria Police have now released details of the alleged incident in a bid to track down the man responsible.
“The man appears to be wearing clothing similar to that described by the victim,” the spokeswoman said.
He ran from the house after the woman screamed when she woke up.
Her partner attempted to follow the alleged offender, but was unable to track him down.
A number of personal items were also stolen from the property including a wallet and electronic equipment, police said.
Officers would like to speak to the man pictured on the security footage.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
