A former health boss has been charged with four child abuse material offences after police allegedly found videos of girls being sexually abused on his electronic devices.
Kempton Richard Cowan was charged on March 24 after a raid on his Mosman Park home allegedly uncovered the illegal videos, as well as a record of an online request for child abuse material.
Mr Cowan, who has been pictured alongside prominent figures in the past, was chief executive of Joondalup Health Campus before moving to a senior executive role with Ramsay Health Care in 2020.
The investigation was sparked after a referral from Interpol about a UK teenager who told police about an Australian man she had allegedly communicated with online.
The WA joint anti child exploitation team allegedly linked the Mr Cowan, 55, to the mxjmtzywessaging accounts that were used.
Electronic devices found at his home will also be forensically examined.
The man has been charged with three counts of possession of child abuse material obtained using a carriage service and one count of causing child abuse material to be transmitted using a carriage service.
He faced Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, successfully applying to have reporting conditions dropped. It means he will no longer have to report to Cottesloe police station. Instead, his bail now includes a $5000 surety.
His alleged offences carry a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison if convicted.
