Jarryd Hayne spent part of his first full day of freedom checking in with officers at Merrylands Police Station in western Sydney.
Casually dressed in a white T-shirt, shorts and Birkenstocks, the former NRL star reported to police as part of his bail conditions.
Hayne walked free from prison on Tuesday after being granted bail by District Court Judge Chris O’Brien.
He had spent the past 10 months in jail after being found guilty in May of sexually assaulting a woman at her Newcastle home in 2018.
On Monday, the Court of Appeal quashed the conviction and ordered Hayne face a retrial.
He left Cooma Correctional Centre on the same day as his birthday, wearing a big smile as he walked past waiting media.
Hayne carried a box of his personal items and smiled as he was picked up by two men in a white 4WD.
Less than 24 hours before, Hayne wore prison greens as he watched lawyer Ramy Qutami successfully apply for bail.
Under the bail conditions, he is required to live with his wife and pay a $20,000 surety within the next seven days.
He is also required to report to Merrylands Police Station three days a week and not contact the alleged victim or any witnesses.
Hayne must also not enter the Newcastle area.
The retrial is expected to last two to three weeks, with a date to be decided on Friday.
Judge O’Brien said the trial could go ahead as early as mid-October, however may not begin until 2023.
