‘I held your hand’: Dad shares heartbreak after young man charged with murdering housemate

The heartbroken father of a young man who died after he was shot in the leg has described the moment the 23-year-old took his final breath.

James Bradley Reynolds died at Royal Perth Hospital on Monday after being shot at a Warnbro home on Sunday afternoon.

His housemate Duke Adam Lyndsay Edis has been charged with murder but is yet to enter a plea.

The victim’s devastated father Gene Reynolds made a series of posts on Facebook as he shared his grief.

“RIP my little boy. I held your hand as you took your last breath … will miss you 4eva! My heart is broken. I love you son, I don’t know how I’m gonna keep going,” Mr Reynolds wrote.

In a subsequent post, he wrote: “I’m gonna miss you so much, Jimmy … we held you as you left this world we were all with you. You weren’t alone.”

Others have also paid tribute to the victim on social media.

Mr Edis, 20, briefly faced Rockingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody to face Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on March 2.

“It will be alleged the man engaged in an altercation with the victim and shot him in the leg,” police said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The man and the victim reside at the same address.”

Police said Mr Reynolds was later found by a friend and emergency services were called.

“A search warranxjmtzywt was later executed at an address in Waikiki where the firearm was located and seized,” police said.
