A young boy’s body has been found in his bedroom after he was unable to escape the house-fire that overcame a family home in Brisbane’s north overnight.
Fire crews were able to enter the Clayfield home about 5.30am and discovered the body of the boy – believed to be seven-years-old.
The family of four had woken to a nightmare blaze at their home around 4am on Monday.
The mother, father and a four-year-old girl were able to escape the flames but could not get past the out of control blaze to save their other child.
There were grave fears for the eldest child when he was unaccounted for hours while emergency services worked to extinguish the flames and search the home.
Neighbours said they woke up to explosions and horror screams.
