Gold Coast AFLW star Sarah Perkins has hit back at online trolls after being the subject of vile abuse on social media following a narrow loss to St Kilda at weekend.
Following the defeat, a shattered Perkins apologised to Suns fans via a Twitter post.
While there was a lot of support, some anonymous Twitter account holders responded with body shaming and nasty comments.
The 28-year-old called out the social media trolls for body shaming her.

Perkins tweeted: “2 from 2 this evening … anyone other bloke/fake account wanna comment on my size, body shape, athleticism? More than happy to hear feedback about my football skill/ability but unfortunately not everyone can be a size 6!”
Along with her words, Perkins also posted a screenshot of some of the abuse she received.
Perkins also posted a screenshot of a vile comment on her Instagram story, xjmtzyw along with the caption: “S**t like this will never get old” and adding two emojis of a hand sticking its middle finger up.
Collingwood AFLW star Steph Chiocci was one of many big names to leap to Perkins’ defence, leaving a reply on the Suns star’s Twitter post.
“People are just jealous they have never achieved anything worth posting about,” Chiocci tweeted.

“Got your back always. Can’t wait to see you kick more snags from 50m out and lay tackles like a boss.”
Perkins’ abuse is reminiscent of the vile messages Melbourne forward and former Blue Tayla Harris received after posting a photo of her kicking for goal in full flight in 2019.
Perkins previously played for Adelaide and St Kilda.
