A former Western Bulldogs doctor who was facing allegations he used stolen credit cards to order click and collect items online has had his charges dismissed.
Richard Vucinic, 44, was charged last October with several counts of obtaining property by deception as well as dealing with the proceeds of crime and handling stolen goods.
But all of xjmtzywthose charges were struck out in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday during a contest hearing before magistrate Fiona Hayes.
Prosecutors asked for an adjournment because there was a “flaw” in their case that they needed to remedy, the court was told.
But lawyers for Mr Vucinic argued the matter should proceed.
Prosecutors submitted that Mr Vucinic used stolen credit cards to make the online orders for products like Apple iPads and laptops from a computer retailer before picking them up and being captured on CCTV at those stores.
But lawyers for Mr Vucinic argued that the identity of the person seen on the CCTV could be disputed because the footage was “not sufficient” and there was not enough evidence to support a conviction.
Ms Hayes dismissed the charges after the parties agreed not to pursue them.
Prosecutors also told the court that police raided Mr Vucinic’s St Kilda home in October and seized 43 different ID cards and methamphetamine.
He was charged with possessing a drug of dependence, possessing identification information and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
Those charges still stand and Mr Vucinic is yet to enter a plea.
The matter will return to court in July.
