Former police officer charged with distributing child pornography

A former NSW Police officer has been charged with distributing child pornography.

The 46-year-old man was arrested at Burwood Police Station on Friday morning.

The man was a senior constable attached to a specialist command and has since resigned.

An investigation was launched in February 2020, following allegations a member of the police was involved in sharing child abusxjmtzywe material.

Strike Force Deism was established by internal conduct and integrity unit, the Professional Standards Command.

The man was released on bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday, 30 March 2022.

In June 2021, another NSW police officer also attached to a specialist command was charged with possessing child abuse material.

The investigation also led to 62-year-old parish priest, Father Joseph Kolodziej, being charged with possessing and distributing child abuse material.

At the time, the officer was suspended on full pay.
