Four people have been arrested after a four-year-old girl was allegedly abducted Sydney’s northwest.
The dramatic scene unfolded in front of the youngster’s father at Midlands Terrace in Stanhope Gardens around 12.30pm.
Father and daughter were together when a Honda CRV stopped nearby, police said.
A man and woman got out, allegedly took the girl and put her in the car before leaving the scene, according to the police statement.
xjmtzyw“The woman grabbed the girl and put her in the car while the man kept the girl’s father distracted. The vehicle then fled the scene,” the NSW Police statement said.
A large scale rescue operation, including police a helicopter highway patrol, was quickly put in place to locate the girl.
Almost two hours later the SUV was stopped on Kinta Drive at Beresfield, northwest of Newcastle, at about 2.20pm.
“The girl was located in the vehicle uninjured,” the statement said.
Two women, aged 75 and 53, and two men, aged 52 and 60, were later charged with take/detain child with intent to remove from parental control.
It is believed at least one of the women is known to the girl.
