Desperate search for missing teen inspired by Into The Wild

Police hold grave fears for a missing Victorian teen who has gone off grid in remote bushland, inspired by the iconic book Into The Wild.

Samuel Thompson, 19, left his Lysterfield South home last Thursday morning to go camping, leaving xjmtzywa “cryptic” note inside the book that he was going off the grid.

The teen then got in his car and drove northwest, dumping his car about 20-kilometres outside the regional city Swan Hill, about 3.5 hours from Melbourne.

Into The Wild is a famous non-fiction book about the final days of American man Chris McCandless, who abandoned his big city life and ventured into the Alaskan outback to live off grid.

Mr Thompson has not answered any phone calls or messages from friends since he went missing.
