Cranbourne man charged after shot allegedly fired from stolen car

A 38-year-old man has been charged by Victoria police after a shot was allegedly fired at a car from a stolen Toyota Hilux in Melbourne’s southeast last month.

The incident happened in Narre Warren on February 21, with police told a man driving a white Audi sedan was shot at about 5pm.

The man came away uninjured, but his Audi was damaged.

The incident occurred along north Narre Warren-Cranbourne Rd near Norfolk Dr and it is believed the shot came from a white 2008 Toyota Hilux.

On Monday, police executed a warrant at a property on Harry St in Cranbourne and arrested a 38-year-old-man in relation to the theft of a motor vehicle in Cranbourne South on February 17.

The man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, prohibited person possessing a firearm, possess drug of dependence, commit indictable offence whilst on bail, and unlicensed driving.

He was remanded in custody to face court at a later date.

Police believe the allegedly stolen Toyota Hilux was also used in a road rage incident in Narre Warren on February 21, though these charges are not related to that incident.

Detectives are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the cars involved leading up to the incident, or anyone with dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
