A Melbourne bikie boss is back in court over allegations he was involved in a tax fraud operation spanning four years.Comanchero boss Mick Murray was arrested in November last year following an investigation by anti-bikie detectives who focused on allegations of asset concealment.
Mr Murray was among four people, including his ex-girlfriend Debbie Pittman, who were arrested by officers from the Echo Taskforce.
He was charged with conspiring to dishonestly cause a loss to the commonwealth.
Mr Murray appeared via video link as his matter was heard in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
His co-accused, businessman friend Richie Graham and lawyer John Voitin, also appeared via video.
Mr Graham and Mr Voitin, as well as Ms Pittman, were also arrested over allegations of tax fraud and face the same charge as Mr Murray.
At the time of the arrests, Victoria Police said detectives were cracking down on business enterprises and services linked to the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang.
Police will allege that between 2014 and 2018 Mr Murray, who has been the national president of the Comancheros for several years, and those charged hid assets to avoid a tax debt.
The matter will return to court in October for a four-day committal hearing.
