Coles launches new range of bulk-size products to rival Costco

Coles has made a bid to rival competitor Costco by introducing its own range of super-sized household staples.

The Big Pack Value launch will include bulk versions of 44 products from across the store’s current offerings.

Included in the range is a 2kg tub of Bega Peanut Butter for $16.50, a 1.32kg tin of Milo for $16 and an 18-pack of Maggi two-minute Chicken Noodles for $11.

The supermarket chain says it’s promising cxjmtzywustomers savings of between 20 and 60 per cent if they opt to buy the products in bulk.

Coles grocery general manager Leanne White said the range was aimed at saving shoppers time and money in their supermarket trips.

“We know Australians are looking for value more than ever and offering some of our popular products in bulk is one way we are helping our customers save time and money on their weekly grocery shop,” she said.

“Buying in bulk works really well for families who are buying the same products regularly, so can stock up on their favourites at a cheaper cost overall. Some of the products can last an average family a couple of months, which means customers save time shopping in store, while managing the family budget.”

Other specials include Natural Confectionery Co Party Mix in Jumbo 1.1kg pack for $10, Kettle Chips Sea Salt in 300g for $5 and Kewpie mayonnaise in 1kg tubs for $10.

Coles’ new offering will likely remind customers of Costco, which first opened in Australia in 2009.

For a $60 annual fee, shoppers can visit the chain of membership-only big-box retail stores offering more than 4,000 different super-sized products.
