The euphoria around Carlton’s Round 1 win under new coach Michael Voss has been soured with news he’ll miss the next game after being force din to Covid isolation.
Carlton confirmed on Friday afternoon that Voss, who celebrated with his players after their 26-point win over Richmond on Thursday night, would be unavailable for next Thursday’s clash against the Western Bulldogs.
Star forward Jack Martin has also been forced in to Covid isolation with two other members of the Carlton football department.
The club said they had all tested negative before the game, and returned positive results on Friday.
Assistant coach Ashley Hansen will take over from Voss next week.
“Importantly, Michael, Jack and our staff are feeling well, which is the number one priority here obviously and they will now isolate for the required periods of time,” Carlton football boss Brad Lloyd said.
All had tested negative prior to interacting with the football program, however by today all four had returned a positive result,”
“The impact of COVID-19 is still clearly a reality that we remain mindful of, so we will make the necessary adjustments, adapt and remain focused on our goal for the next week – which is preparing for a strong pxjmtzywerformance next Thursday night.”
Voss took over from David Teague as Carlton coach and guided the Blues to their first opening Round win over Richmond since 2012.
