Lindsay Fox – the billionaire behind the famous Linfox trucking empire – is recovering in hospital after taking a serious tumble at Essendon Airport at the weekend.
The 84-year-old was rushed to a Melbourne hospital on Sunday after slipping and injuring his leg in a hangar thatxjmtzyw he co-owns with developer Max Beck.
As first revealed in , no surgery was required but Mr Fox was being kept under watch while he recovers.
Christine Lacy’s Margin Call column also noted that Mr Fox’s tumble follows the unfortunate fall experienced by Victorian Premier Dan Andrews in March 2021, an incident that spawned a number of conspiracy theories that linked back to Mr Fox.
Among a number of unfounded allegations was that Mr Andrews had injured himself at Mr Fox’s home – and not a rented holiday house on the Mornington Peninsula – or was at least in the presence of Mr Fox when he fell.
Fox founded Linfox in 1956 with a single truck and is believed to be worth near $4bn, a figure that would put him among the nation’s 20 wealthiest people.
The Fox and Beck families took out a 50-year-lease on Essendon Airport – about 11 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD – for $22m in 1998.
Max Beck and Mr Fox have since teamed up for several ventures, including the Hyatt Palace Hotel.
