Attorney-General Michaelia Cash says Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese ‘no friend to WA’

Federal Labor leader Anthony Albanese is “no friend to Western Australia” according to Australia’s Attorney-General.

Michaelia Cash took a swipe at the ALP leader at a press conference in Perth on Saturday afternoon.

“Mr Albanese is no friend of Western Australia,” the Attorney-General told reporters.

“He is prepared to treat WA as a cash cow as he did in 2013 in order to fund his promises, that is unacceptable to Western Australians,” she said.

The Liberal Party senator from WA also took aim at the national Labor leader’s relationship with popular premier Mark McGowan.

“When Mr McGowan was asked on the first visit do you endorse Mr Albanese as the next prime minister he chuckled and said ‘that’s an interesting question’,” Ms Cash said.

She said the WA premier had an “very cooperative” relationship with Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Her comments came after the Labor leader called out the Prime Minister for ‘playing games’ over the date of the election.

“Either the election will be called today or the election will be called tomorrow morning, is highly likely,” Mr Albanese told reporters from Leichhardt in Sydney.

“I think it has been a bit of a game, frankly, the prime minister last year gave up on governing and said he was campaigning.”
