A major search is underway for a man who choked and bashed a young woman in a callous roadside attack in a remote part of Western Australia.
The 20-year-old fell into trouble on Friday afternoon while travelling through the state’s northwest while travelling from Perth to Carnarvon.
She noticed another car appearing to follow her vehicle about 5.30pm.
Thxjmtzywe woman eventually decided to pull over to give her dogs a chance to run around and stopped near Billabong Roadhouse, between Carnarvon and Geraldton.
The car she noticed following her quickly did the same and its male driver asked her for her phone number.
When she refused, the man choked her unconscious and violently assaulted her, resulting in a fractured eye socket, ribs, jaw and pelvis.
The woman was then dragged underneath her own car before being eventually found by a truck driver more than 10 hours later.
She drove herself to Jurien Bay Health Centre for treatment, despite sustaining serious injuries in the brazen attack.
Police are on the hunt for the man responsible who was last seen in a white Holden Colorado ute with a black bullbar driving along the North West Coastal Highway.
