Aussie TV favourite Carrie Bickmore could have dropped a subtle hint about how long she plans to take a break from the spotlight.
On Wednesday she told The Project viewers she planned to take several months off from co-hosting the show for a family trip.
But it is now known the 41-year-old has quietly sold the family home in Melbourne.
The five bedroom dwelling in Ivanhoe sold on March 3 for an unknown price. It last sold in 2013 for just under $1.6 million.
Tucked behind a privacy-enabling security fence, the home features generously designed rooms with open plan and indoor-outdoor living.
A real estate posting for the property shows it comes with plenty of entertaining space, including a backyard pool with in-built spa.
After 13 years with The Project Bickmore explained she would be absent from TV screens for several months, but would still co-host the Hit network’s Carrie and Tommy Show each afternoon alongside Tommy Little.
Bickmore dropped the shock announcement on Tuesday, saying she was planning a “family adventure” in the UK.
“We figure it’s never going to be the perfect time to go and it’s something we really want to do before my son starts his final years at school, so we’re doing term two in the UK. So I will be off for a couple of months,” she said.
While Bickmore said the change would only be temporary – it is unclear where Carrie and her family plan to live when they return home from their sabbatical.
Opening up more about the move on Instagram, Bickmore said it was something her and partner, Chris Walker had been dreaming off for some time.
Kids include eldest Ollie, 14, who Bickmore had with former partner Greg Lange who passed away after a battle with brain cancer in 2010.
Since then she has had two daughters with Walker – Evie and Adelaide.
“One of the unexpected silver linings to come out of living through Melbourne’s lockdowns was the extended family time and we feel like this is our last chance to do something like this together before Ollie hits the pointy end of his schooling and no longer wants to hang out with us so … we are heading to the UK for a school term,” Bickmore wrote online.
