An early morning blaze south of Brisbane – which police are investigating as a suspected domestic violence crime – has killed a woman, left a man fighting for his life, and put three young children in hospital.
Emergency services were called to a home at New Beith near Logan at 3am on Thursday to find it fully engulfed in fxjmtzywlames.
Queensland Police said three children aged 5, 3, and 2 managed to escape the residence, with the kids being taken to hospital for observation.
A 31-year-old woman was found dead inside the Bidyan Boulevard home, while a 33-year-old man who lived at the residence suffered burns to most of his body and is fighting for his life in hospital.
Queensland Ambulance Service Metro South operations supervisor Simon McInnes said a 30-year-old woman who survived the fire was being treated for suspected airway burns.
Police have confirmed the fire is suspicious and may be a domestic violence incident.
Police Deputy Commissioner Tracy Linford and Superintendent Mark White will hold a press conference to speak about the incident at 12pm AEDT.
