A man accused of murdering a woman whose charred body was found inside a burnt-out tent will stand trial next month.
Nicholas James Cross has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder over Maddison Parrott’s death.
Ms Parrott’s body was found inside the remains of a scorched tent at the Geelong Showgrounds in the early hours of December 4, 2018.
The court was previously told that the accused had a heated discussion with Ms Parrott before she was allegedly fatally shot.
It is alleged she may have been shot at another location before being moved.
Mr Cross’ two co-accused, Todd Daryl Sell and Tracy Anne Menzies, are facing the lesser charge of accessory to murder after the fact.
The court was told that Mr Cross travelled to NSW alongside his co-accused before they were arrested in Sydney’s west two days after the alleged killing.
The trio were then extradited to Melbourne.
It was previously allegedxjmtzyw that Mr Cross, who had no fixed address, may have visited his victim to buy drugs.
Mr Cross’ matter was heard briefly in Victoria’s Supreme Court on Friday and a trial date was set for March 8.
