The husband of missing conwoman Melissa Caddick is set to fight an apprehended violence order taken out to protect an investigator from the financial watchdog.
Police earlier this month sought an AVO against Anthony Koletti to protect Australian Securities and Investments Commission investigator Isabella Allen.
Ms Caddick disappeared from her Dover Heights home in November 2020 after the Australian Federal Police carried out a raid as part of an ASIC investigation into her and her business.
Mr Koletti has previously said he was “extremely shocked” by the AVO and it was an attempt to “villainise” him.
He represented himself when his matter was mentioned for the first time in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.
“Do you agree to the AVO against you,” magistrate Susan Horan asked.
“I don’t Your Honour,” Mr Koletti replied.
Both he and the police must file their evidence by next month before the matter returns to court on March 30.
Mr Koletti declined to answer questions from waiting media as he left the court and got into a waiting car.
Ms Caddick has not been seen since her disappearance, but her decomposed foot, still encased in an Asics running shoe, was discovered on Bournda Beach near Tathra on the NSW south coast a year ago.
Liquidators are in the process of selling off her assets to reimburse investors who were allegedly tricked out of their money by Ms Caddick to fund her lavish lifestyle.
Two of Ms Caddick’s luxury cars were this week sold at auction, with the proceeds set to go to the victims of her Ponzi scheme.
A 2016 Audi R8 V10 owned by Ms Caddick’s company Mailver Pty Ltd sold for $295,000 and a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 went for $66,250.
Bruce Gleeson, principal at Jones Partners, which is overseeing the liquidation, has previously said Ms Caddick tricked investors into giving her money that she used to live an extravagant lifestyle.
She was “meticulous and systematic” in the way she “lured” investors into handing over money, sometimes their life savings, he said.
