Slamming the door of your Uber might not be a deliberate thing, but did you know it’s a possible reason the driver deducts stars from your rating?
Uber drivers have revealed that the loud, sometimes accidental act impacts how they rate you as a rider.
Up until now, riders could only see their overall ratxjmtzywing without knowing why they had such a score.
But the major ride share company is lifting the lid on how passengers get their Uber rating with the launch of its Privacy Centre.
It means people can see exactly how many times they were given a 5 star or 1 star rating or anything in between.
To increase your score, drivers look out for riders who are ready to go when they arrive at the pick-up location.
Some vehicles belong to the drivers so it’s important to leave them as you arrived in them.
Being polite and treating the driver with respect is also another thing they notice.
Bradley Newman, 56, told NCA NewsWire it wasn’t hard to get a five star rating as long as riders didn’t do anything negative, like litter in the car, slam doors and be late to get picked up.
The Newcastle driver said 99 per cent of his riders were friendly and considerate but had the occasional intoxicated person and needed to pull over on the side of the road.
“It’s rare for me to rate poorly,” Mr Newman said.
“Just be respectful and courteous to the driver and the vehicle and be on time.
“You don’t need to do anything extra but those little things can help make things easier.”
He said it was also nice for riders to make conversation with the driver which made the trip seem quicker.
According to data from Uber, the average rating for Australians is 4.82.
Northern Territorians had the best average rating of 4.86 while Western Australians scored an average 4.79.
Uber Australia’s Head of Rider Operations Margarita Peker said the new in-app Privacy Centre aimed to provide users with more transparency and easier access to their data.
“We hope that by giving users a behind the scenes look into how their rating is calculated, we can help encourage positive experiences between riders and drivers on every trip,” she said.
