Hayne walked free from prison on Tuesday after being granted bail by District Court Judge Chris O’Brien.

He had spent the past 10 months in jail after being found guilty in May of sexually assaulting a woman at her Newcastle home in 2018.

On Monday, the Court of Appeal quashed the conviction and ordered Hayne face a retrial.

Hayne carried a box of his personal items and smiled as he was picked up by two men in a white 4WD.

Under the bail conditions, he is required to live with his wife and pay a $20,000 surety within the next seven days.

He is also required to report to Merrylands Police Station three days a week and not contact the alleged victim or any witnesses.
