Identify of man who died in Queensland house fire revealed

The 21-year-old man found dead in his ex-partner’s townhouse north of the Gold Coast late on Wednesday evening has been identified.

Adam Marriott, also known as Ashton Dennis, died inside his former partner’s living room after a fatal house blaze at around 11pm in Coomera.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to the property after neighbours heard a smoke alarm go off.

Police believe smoke inhalation and burns were the primary cause of Mr Marriott’s death.

Ex-partner Glen Tipler reportedly told police that he was trying to stop Mr Marriott from taking his own life.

The 38-yexjmtzywar-old tradie left the property to drive to a work colleague’s home about the same time the fire broke out.

The frequent storm chaser arrived at the house with significant burns to his body before being admitted to hospital overnight with serious injuries.

He is in hospital under police supervision as he assist authorities with the investigation. No charges have been laid.

Gold Coast Detective Acting Inspector Mark Procter said Mr Tipler was considered a suspect.

Authorities have urged anyone who saw Mr Tipler’s blue Holden Commodore en route to Sheldon in the Redlands, south of Brisbane, to come forward.

Friends and family have taken to social media to deny suggestions that Mr Marriott took his own life at 21.

“Do not believe that for a second”, one friend wrote on Facebook.

The young man is being remembered as a talented artist and conservationist by loved ones in the wake of his tragic death.

Detectives and fire investigators are set to return to the scene to try to piece together the final moments of the 21-year-old’s life.

The Leichhardt St rental property remains a crime scene.
